Welcome to Morton Subotnick's Making Music. We hope you enjoy this Voyager
title!
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Any color-capable Macintosh
* At least 8 Mbytes of installed RAM (5,000K free)
* A 13-inch (640x480) or larger color monitor
* A double-speed CD-ROM drive
* System 7
SETTING UP
These instructions assume a basic familiarity with Macintosh interface
conventions. If you're just getting started with your computer, and find
the operations described below confusing, please refer to the documentation
that came with your computer.
To install this title, follow these steps:
1. Drag the Making Music Folder from the CD to your hard drive.
2. Open the System Extensions folder on the CD to show the extensions
necessary or recommended for use with this title. Note: Making Music
requires that QuickTime Musical Instruments be installed.
3. If you don't already have these extensions installed, or are unsure,
drag the appropriate icons one-by-one to your System Folder icon and drop
them. The Macintosh will guide you through the rest of the installation. If
you install any extensions, restart your computer to make them active.
STARTING MAKING MUSIC
1. Make sure the Making Music CD is in your CD-ROM drive.
2. Open the Making Music Folder on your hard drive and double-click the
Making Music icon. (Your compositions will be stored in the "CompFldr" folder. Do not throw this folder away.)
HELP
Two types of help are available in the Making Music program.
1. Extensive tutorial help is available in the Overview section. Click
Overview on the Contents screen.
2. Audio help is available in every section of the program. Click the
Question Mark button in the lower right portion of the screen, then move
your cursor over any button to hear an audio explanation of its function.
MIDI PLAYBACK
If you would like to use an external MIDI synthesizer to play back your
music, you must have a Macintosh-compatible MIDI interface connected to
your modem port. You can toggle between the internal Macintosh sound and
external MIDI output by pressing - M. Each time you open the program, it
defaults to internal Macintosh sound.
